UTM link builder for campaign tracking
UTM tags are small labels added to a web address that tell your website analytics where a visitor came from. EditURLink lets you add them while creating a short link, so the tidy link you share carries the tracking behind the scenes.
The three tags in plain English
- utm_source — where the link was shared, such as
whatsapp, facebookornewsletter. - utm_medium — the kind of channel, such as
social,emailorprint. - utm_campaign — the campaign name, such as
summer-sale.
An example
Your destination becomes:
https://example.com/summer?utm_source=whatsapp&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=summer-sale
And the link you actually share stays short:
editurlink.com/summer
How to use it well
- Keep tags lowercase and consistent, or your reports will split in two.
- Use one campaign name across every channel, and vary only the source.
- Make a separate short link per channel so you can compare clicks side by side.
Campaigns in EditURLink
You can also group links into a campaign in your dashboard and filter by it, which is handy when one promotion runs across several channels. Creating a set of tagged links at once is easiest with CSV bulk creation.
Questions people ask
- Which UTM fields does EditURLink support?
- Source, medium and campaign. They are optional and can be filled in when you create a link.
- Where do the UTM tags end up?
- They are added to the destination address, so your own website analytics sees them when the visitor arrives. The short link itself stays clean.
- Do I need UTM tags to see clicks?
- No. EditURLink counts clicks on the short link either way. UTM tags are for your website analytics tool.
